TOPSIM® – Change Management Simulation

Effectively managing change, and leading others through change, is a key success factor for organizations today in both the public and private sectors. Participants in the TOPSIM® – Change Management strategic business simulation learn to design, support and implement change. Participants consider all sub-systems within an organization including processes, information systems, the corporate culture and – most importantly – its people.

The Change Management Simulation is an excellent complement to Nexient’s Leading Transformation program. Using the simulation, participants can apply their learning from Leading Transformation in a realistic, team-based environment, prior to implementing change management interventions in their workplace.

Participants in the simulation take on the role of a Change Manager leading the organization through various phases of a change process.  Working in teams, the learners are required to make a series of decisions based on the information provided, apply identified methods, and handle uncertainty and time. 

 

There are 5 simulation periods.  In the beginning the focus is on creating awareness for the need for change.  Next, each member of the organization needs to be motivated and committed to contribute towards the change process.  Finally, each employee needs to have the skills and knowledge to enable performance.  Acting as the Change Manager, each team can choose up to 30 measures to implement as interventions to facilitate the change process.

 

At the end of each period the participants have the opportunity to see the effects of their interventions, and reflect on their decisions.  The data from their decision making is integrated into a report by the facilitator and given to the teams.

 

The simulation can be run with between 9 and 20 participants.
