Management Skills Workshop – Part 1 (Days 1, 2, 3)

The Management Skills Program is a three-part workshop delivered in nine days. It is typically delivered over a period of three months with each part of the Program running for three days.

 

The Program’s goal is to provide managers with the knowledge and skills to get things done more efficiently through better management of their organization’s human capital. Through its unique participative methodology, the program helps managers view their human resources in progressive, innovative ways geared to increasing effectiveness and productivity.

 

Designed to meet management and supervisory needs, the program’s popularity is due to its focus on the practical skills that apply to the managerial environment of each participant. Each participant is expected to apply specific components of his/her choosing within the workplace and to report back to the group his/her experience.

 

Specifically, during the three-part program, you will have the chance to:

     Practise your skills in class

     Apply them back on the job, and then,

     Report, discuss and fine-tune your results in the next segment of the program.

PART I

To be an effective leader, you need to understand and be able to use, day-to-day communication techniques that will ensure that you and your team understands each other’s goals and needs.

 

Day 1

Effective, dynamic interpersonal communication

     Discover the keys to effective interpersonal and inter-group communication.

     Master the crucial skills of identifying and sharing differing perspectives.

     Learn how to use the feedback loop to determine if your messages are accurately received and that the intended result is achieved.

     Sharpen your understanding of non-verbal behaviour as a crucial part of interpersonal communication.

 

Day 2

Communication preferences, feedback, disclosure and listening

     Improve your skills in giving feedback and disclosing information.

     Practise active listening skills and improve your techniques for asking questions.

      

     Explore how to better understand yourself, others and their differences, and how these differences affect one-to-one communication and team relationships.

     Participate in exercises that demonstrate the importance of understanding communication preferences to build rapport and an environment of mutually supportive communication.

 

Day 3

Improving intra-group communication

     Improve how you communicate in emotional and sensitive situations.

     Apply your skills in a Capstone Exercise.

     Self-scoring inventories; workplace simulations; diagnostic instruments; video case studies; theoretical models: These are the leadership training tools that you’ll use throughout the program.

     The 20-participant limit ensures enough interaction for effective group discussion, yet not so many people that your own input is swamped.

     The program is regularly updated to ensure that you acquire practical skills applicable to today’s managerial environment. What remains constant is the program’s unique segmented, experiential approach that lets managers readily apply their new skills back on the job.

     Participants will receive a Nexient Certificate of Completion
